Biomedicine (Print ISSN: 0970 2067), official publication of Indian Association of Biomedical Scientists (IABMS), published quarterly in March, June, September and December. It is an International Journal for Biomedical Sciences. The journal publishes research papers, reviews, special article, case report, book review and letter to the editor related to Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Toxicology, Endocrinology, Reproductive Biology, Pharmacology, Environmental Sciences, Bioinformatics, Pharmacogenomics and Alternative Systems of Medicines like Siddha, Unani, Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Naturopathy. Preference will be given to papers of immediate importance to other investigators, either by their experimental data, new ideas or new methodology. Scientific correspondence to the Editor-in-Chief related to the published papers may also be accepted provided that they are short and scientifically relevant to the papers mentioned, in order to provide a continuing forum for discussion.
Journal of Biomedicine is a multidisciplinary journal publishing papers of high quality in the study of biology, biological processes and application in medicine. Examples of topic areas are molecular medicine, gene therapy, cancer biology, immunobiology, pharmacogenomics, drug delivery and discovery, chemical biology, pharmacology, physiology, and basic or clinical researches in various diseases. Articles in the journal are rigorously peer-reviewed.

Biomedicine journal considers only original communications/articles/write-ups submitted exclusively to the journal. Prior and duplicate publications are not allowed. Publication of abstract under conference proceedings will not be considered as prior publication. It is the duty of the authors to inform the BIOMEDICINE journal about all submissions and previous reports that might be regarded as prior or duplicate publication. Manuscripts for publication will be considered on their individual merits. All manuscripts will be subjected to peer review. Normally manuscripts will be sent to at least two reviewers and their comments along with the editorial board’s decision will be forwarded to the contributor for further action. The authors may suggest referees working in the same area for evaluating the manuscript. BIOMEDICINE journal insists on ethical practices in both human and animal experiments. Evidence for approval by a local/institutional Ethics Committee must be supplied by the authors on demand. Animal experimental procedures should be as humane as possible and the details of anaesthetics and analgesics used should be clearly stated. The ethical standards of experiments must be in accordance with the guidelines provided by the CPCSEA (animal) and ICMR (human). The journal will not consider any paper which is ethically unacceptable. A statement on ethics committee permission and ethical practices must be included in all research articles under the ‘Materials and Methods’ section. Authors must be careful when they reproduce text, tables or illustrations from other sources. Please see instructions below on this subject. All accepted papers are subject to editorial changes.
Plagiarism will be checked before and after the review process using iThenticate by Turnitin. Any submissions with a similarity index greater than 15% will be requested to make necessary corrections
The journal adopts double blind review process which is closely monitored by the editors. Editors undertake editorial review to assess the quality and type of submission before sending it to the review process. Manuscripts not meeting the scientific standards will not be considered for the reviewing process. Authors are expected to pay attention to the instructions for authors and also indicate the category in which they are publishing if it is not a research article. Editors will also check the readability, grammatical usage and may ask for resubmission if papers fare poorly in these parameters.
Editors request referees to advise on the scientific merit as well as the likely appeal the paper will have for broad scientometric’s readership. Editors will be in contact with the referees once paper is sent to them, with periodic reminders of their due date. Once all the reviews are in-house, the Editor handling the manuscript will most likely make a decision within a day or two. The editor will then contact the corresponding author with the decision. Reviewers invest precious time in the belief that they are making important contributions to the scientific process.
Authors can differ with the reviewer comments supported by rational explanation which will be examined by the Editor and can be sent to the said referee again. However, offensive remarks on reviewer’s comments will be subjected to the cancellation of publication.
Editorial assessment is also done after the referee process is completed before finally recommending the paper for the journal or otherwise.
All efforts are done to complete the whole process within three months from submission with the first decision on an average done within 30 days to inform the status of their article.
The entire review process of the articles submitted to BIOMEDICINE are done online and digitally. Authors must use the online submission system for submitting their manuscript. Only if they are unable to do so they should contact the editor through email.
Author submits all required materials, including copyright form, and separate cover letter.
The submitted article is first checked by the editor(s) in terms of whether it is within the broad scope of the journal and has sufficient merit. Editor(s) also pay attention to the readability, grammar and usage before considering for formally initiating the review process. The author will be informed quickly if their paper is rejected at this stage. Also, there will be technical rejection if authors give their names and affiliations in the main manuscript, the tables and figures as indicated in the text is missing or have not followed instructions to authors.
After initial approval by the editor, completed submission is sent out to two or three reviewers.
Reviewers review the article and send it back to the editorial office for processing.
After initial review, Editor-in-Chief releases reviews to authors.
Authors are asked to respond to reviewers and make necessary corrections.
Article is sent out for re-review.
Editor-in-Chief may accept, reject, accept with minor alterations, or sent out for third review.
If accepted, author must submit final version. Version will be added to "in-press" queue with publisher.
Prior to publication, publisher will send galleys to authors. No edits may be made after galleys are approved.

If the work involves chemicals, procedures or equipment that have any unusual hazards inherent in their use, the author must clearly identify these in the manuscript. If the work involves the use of animal or human subjects, the author should ensure that the manuscript contains a statement that all procedures were performed in compliance with relevant laws and institutional guidelines and that the appropriate institutional committee(s) has approved them. Authors should include a statement in the manuscript that informed consent was obtained for experimentation with human subjects. The privacy rights of human subjects must always be observed.
Every issue of the journal is uploaded in the website. Archives are made available in the website. Provide any additional information you'd like to share about the journal. The same cover page of the print journal is retained since the inception of the journal with only minor changes.
Any article accepted for publication/published in the Biomedicine will be the copyright of the journal. The journal has the right to publish the accepted articles in any media (print, electronic or any other) any number of times. The authors should agree to transfer copyright and sign a declaration to this effect.
